CompBio Australia 2026

CompBio Australia 2026

An excellent training opportunity for HDR students and early-career researchers in computational biology: CompBio Australia 2026, a five-day intensive workshop to be held at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, from 8–12 June 2026.

This workshop — part of the NSF-funded CompBio Asia international initiative — brings together world-class instructors from the USA, UK, and beyond to deliver integrated lectures, hands-on training, and collaborative projects spanning:

  • Genome sciences and sequence annotation
  • Protein structure prediction (including AlphaFold3)
  • Molecular dynamics simulations
  • Machine learning and neural networks applied to biology
  • Biomolecule–ligand affinity estimation and drug discovery

Instructors include Prof. Charles Laughton (University of Nottingham), Prof. Travis Wheeler (University of Arizona), Dr. Amitava Roy (University of Montana), and Dr. Julia Rogers (Columbia University).

Participants are expected to have graduate-level experience in at least one of the covered streams, comfort with the UNIX command line, and proficiency in at least one programming language (Python experience is strongly recommended).

Places are strictly limited to 35 participants, so I encourage anyone interested to visit the workshop website and apply promptly:
