From Data to Discovery: Enabling Impactful Health Research

In this event, QCIF will introduce about QCIF Digital Research supports researchers and practitioners at every stage of their projects, from expert guidance on experimental design, statistical and bioinformatics analysis, and results interpretation to assistance with grant applications, including analysis planning and formulation of budgets. You’ll also learn about opportunities for ongoing advisory support, access to subsidised national high-performance computing infrastructure, and training in data science and analytics.

The session will be followed by a real-world case study from Dr Akmez Latona, an emergency specialist with Queensland Health and LifeFlight clinician who has been collaborating with the QCIF Statistics team on the award-winning project Transforming Care Procedures in Emergency Departments for Patients with Chronic Liver Disease.

The project aims to identify disparities in blood products administration across rural, regional and metropolitan areas of Queensland to inform and create more equitable and cost-effective patient care across the region.

Supported by the QCIF Statistics team since 2024, this initiative has led to 9 publications at varying stages, presentations in multiple international and national conferences, including the National Blood Conference Blood 2025 in Perth, the ACEM Annual Scientific Meeting 2025 on the Gold Coast, and has been recognised with the 2025 ANZSBT Peter Schiff Award for Innovation in Transfusion Medicine for its impact on patient care and Cliff Pollard Award 2026 for research excellence.

Who should attend?

Health researchers and practitioners wanting to understand how working with QCIF Digital Research can accelerate and strengthen research endeavours to deliver real-world healthcare impact.
